Can U-posts support high-tensile fencing?
U-posts are designed for lighter fencing applications. For high-tensile fencing or large livestock, we recommend T-posts which have a stronger cross-section. U-posts are ideal for garden, poultry, and temporary fencing with lighter wire.
What is the difference between U-posts and T-posts?
T-posts have a T-shaped cross-section with external studs for wire attachment, and are stronger. U-posts have a U-channel cross-section with pre-punched holes for wire, and are lighter and less expensive. T-posts are for agricultural/livestock use; U-posts are for garden/light use.
How are U-posts installed?
U-posts are driven into the ground using a manual post driver, similar to T-posts. For very hard or rocky soil, pre-drilling a pilot hole may be needed. The tapered tip facilitates driving, but U-posts may require more force than T-posts due to the channel shape.
Can you provide U-posts with custom hole spacing?
Yes, we can manufacture U-posts with custom hole patterns to match your specific fencing requirements. Custom hole spacing typically requires a minimum order of 2,000 pieces. Standard hole spacing is 100mm (4").
